True North Helping Hands
Building Homes, Building Schools, Building Hope
Jasmine
When I was in college, some of my friends from Church started going on these mission trips with True North Helping Hands, which really interested me. It ended up that I moved away, got married, started my career and had children, but always had this idea of helping build schools in the back of my mind.

Finally, when my kids were 2 and 5 years old, my husband and I put our trust in the Lord and the four of us joined the group in Mexico for Winter 2014. My youngest helped do food and material shopping while my oldest mostly played with the local children. I was put on the roofing crew as this trip was dedicated to repairing schools and playgrounds. We got so much done in a short time, that myself and 2 other girls got sent over to shingle a roof for a family in Zorrillo. I will always remember this family for their outpouring of appreciation and their kindness. It really made an impact on me.
My husband and I truly felt this is where God wanted us to pour our love, so we have been back for each trip since then. It is so evident of the need in this area for volunteer help and it's a joy to be a part of this good work. Each time it's amazing to see how God assembles a group of willing people of all skill levels, of all ages and backgrounds to give hope to children and families in Mexico.
